Takuya Yasuda was born in 1974 in Osaka, Japan, and studied microbiology at the Osaka Engei School. He joined Shinji Shumeikai in 1986. Besides taiko, his interests are surfing, snow boarding, pottery, and the Art of Tea. The instruments that he plays with the Ensemble are the chu-daiko and the flute.

"As for the Ensemble, technique is necessary but faith is also very important. I learned that what we accumulated in our daily lives emerges when we perform on stage and that is what moves people's hearts when they hear and see us. This does not only happen on stage but in all parts of our lives."
